Our Story
At Rumi Tile, our journey is rooted in a passion for preserving and celebrating the rich artistic heritage of Moroccan craftsmanship. This vision was first sparked over 25 years ago when Jonathan Friedman, driven by a deep love for food and Moroccan culture, founded Rumi Restaurant in Montreal. The restaurant quickly became a cherished space where flavors, stories, and traditions converged—laying the foundation for something greater.
Inspired by that same cultural connection and creative spirit, Rumi Tile was born. Drawing from the intricate beauty of traditional Zellige tiles, we set out to bring this timeless art form to homes and spaces around the world. Each tile in our collection is meticulously handcrafted by skilled Moroccan artisans, reflecting not only exquisite beauty but also an unwavering commitment to authenticity and quality.
At Rumi Tile, we believe we are creating more than just tiles—we are crafting stories. Within each pattern, color, and imperfection lives a narrative of heritage and human touch. We invite you to explore the artistry, culture, and enduring elegance of Zellige—where every tile carries the soul of tradition and the warmth of home.
